Minutes of Chapter meeting  August 1, 2007

Roll call of officers:   Chapter Chair-John Terpko-present

                                    Vice Chair-Natallie Keys-present

                                    Chapter Secretary-Gail Terpko-present

                                    Treasurer-Tim O’Donnell-absent

                                    Retired Affairs Officer-Linda Andrews-present

Minutes of the previous meeting were discussed and accepted with no changes.

Frank Fantauzzo (AFL-CIO, Appalachian Trail, Inc.) gave a presentatation on the Employee Assistance program (EAP).

Motion passed to allow Mr. Fantauzzo to work with employers/members in setting up and strengthening EAPs in the chapter.

Gail Terpko read correspondence from Mike Simoncelli (Health and Safety Rep.-DPW chapter 4)

Linda Andrews reported on Lobby Day.

Shop Reports

Kevin Szallar, Washington CYS updated chapter on current arbitration on county pay raises.

Jennifer Kromel, Westmoreland CAO signed up all 16 new hires.

Dan Liedl, Washington OVR reported on statewide M&D; budget flat funded for 6 years; possible loss of $20 million in federal funding.  The COP put freeze on state VR ($3.6 million) and may lose funding.  CWDS concerns. 

Jeff Seabury, Washington OVR brought up concerns about lack of services for the disabled.

Jeff Sefcheck, Fayette CareerLink brought up concerns on only 4 days of training for CWDS.

BA Reports

Rose Cindrick-written report on table; available for shop meeting; spoke on COPE.

Al Smith-spoke on CYS arbitration and health insurance problems; the union wants Washington City to add departments to health insurance to get better rates.

Jim Boyd-spoke of contract language for court appointed Westmoreland members.

New business

Motion passed to approve next fiscal year’s budget.

Leadership Training-motions for per diems for local unit members and single rooms for disabled members passed.  Discussion lead by John Terpko on chapter funds and travel expenses for training.  Discussion about motions made in the past about private rooms.

Motion passed on the Martin Luther King memorial.

Motion passed for September 2 event with the Washington Wild things.  Tickets limited to 4; if 100 are not sold; then members can purchase more than 4.

Motion on governor’s safety conference tabled.

BA reports dispensed.
